Ingredients

200 g (7 oz., scant 1 cup) margarine
1 liter (quart) buttermilk
2 dl (3/4 cup) sugar
5 tsp. baking powder
4 tsp. horn salt (or 4 Tbs., 1/4 cup baking powder)
1 kg (2 1/4 pounds, 16 3/4 dl, 7 cups) flour
Filling:
500 g (18 oz., 2 1/4 cups) butter
6 dl (2 1/2 cups) sugar

Instructions

1) Melt the margarine and add the buttermilk.

2) Stir in the sugar. Sift the baking powder and horn salt with part of the flour and stir into the margarine mixture.

3) Add remaining flour to a make a pliable, easy-to-roll dough.

4) Divide the dough into pieces of equal size and roll out into thin sheets.

5) Cook on a griddle until golden on both sides.

6) For the filling, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Dip the sheet into the mixture,then fold in half and cut into diamonds.
