Peppernuts
Ingredients
2 1/2 dl (1 cup) light corn or sugar syrup
2 dl (scant 1 cup) sugar
65 g (2 oz., 4 Tbs.) butter
1/2 dl (3 Tbs.) whipping cream
1 tsp. ground star anise
1/2 tsp. pepper
3/4 tsp. baking soda
about 500 g (8 1/4 dl, 3 1/2 cups) flour
Instructions
1)
Bring syrup, sugar, butter and cream to a boil.
2)
Combine the dry ingredients and add, mixing well. Refrigerate overnight.
3)
Preheat the oven to 200 C (400 F).
4)
Make small, round nuts and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake 8 minutes.
